AEROSPACE INSPECTION LAB // IMMERSION ULTRASONIC TESTING // RICHBURG, SC
Inspected like failure isn't an option.
Because it isn't.
Encore Material Testing is a new independent non-destructive testing (NDT) laboratory in Richburg, South Carolina, performing automated immersion ultrasonic testing (UT) of forgings and critical components for aviation, space and defense. Opening Q4 2026 on I-77 between Charlotte and Columbia in the Carolinas aerospace corridor.
[ WHO WE ARE ]
WHO WE ARE
A new company. Not a new team.
Encore Material Testing exists for industries where components have to hold up, where the work carries real weight, and where the standard behind it matters as much as the result. We were founded on a straightforward premise: that testing and inspection are disciplines, not checkboxes, and that the people who do this work well are the ones who take it personally. Encore is being built for customers who expect that kind of standard, and for the professionals who want to practice it.Meet the people behind Encore >
[ NOW HIRING // UT LEVEL II ]
It starts with you.
Encore is hiring certified Aerospace UT Level II Technicians for its founding team. Level I technicians and trainees are also needed. Brand-new ScanMaster systems, an NDT Level III on the floor, and a team small enough that every name goes on the work.
[ ABOUT ENCORE // INDEPENDENT NDT LABORATORY, RICHBURG, SC ]
ABOUT ENCORE // RICHBURG, SC
Independent by design.
Encore Material Testing is an independent inspection laboratory built around automated immersion ultrasonic testing of forgings and critical components. Independent means Encore is not owned by or affiliated with any forge, mill, machine shop, or OEM: nothing leans on a result except the specification it was inspected to.
Why Encore exists
The components that carry the most weight in aviation, space, and defense are forged, and a forging keeps its secrets. Immersion ultrasonic testing is how those secrets are found in the sonic shape, before the part is finish-machined, installed, and trusted. The capacity to do that work to an aerospace standard, independently, in the Southeast, has not kept pace with the industry that moved here.Encore was founded to close that gap with a laboratory built around the record: brand-new ScanMaster automated immersion systems, an NDT Level III on the floor, a quality system written before the first part arrives, and a founding team of certified technicians who take the work personally. The lab opens in Q4 2026 on I-77 between Charlotte and Columbia, in the Carolinas aerospace corridor.
THE STANDARD
Set by the part, not by us.
Every part Encore inspects goes somewhere a failure would be measured in more than money. The standard is set by that fact, not by us, and the lab is built so that standard is met on the first part and provable on the thousandth.

[ QUALITY SYSTEM ]
QUALITY SYSTEM
Built to be audited.
Before the first customer part enters the tank, the system it will be inspected under already exists on paper: the written practice, the procedures and the technique sheets, the reference standards and their records, the calibration files, the personnel certifications and the training behind them. Every scan plan programmed. Every result traceable to a person, a procedure, a standard, and a date.

What is immersion ultrasonic testing?
Immersion ultrasonic testing is a non-destructive testing method in which the part and the transducer are submerged in a water tank. The water couples high-frequency sound into the part so an automated scanner can inspect the full volume on a programmed path and record every reading as a C-scan. Encore uses ScanMaster automated immersion systems to find internal discontinuities in forgings and critical components before they are finish-machined.How is immersion UT different from contact UT?
Contact UT is done by hand with the probe on the part surface, so coverage depends on the operator. Immersion UT is automated: coupling is uniform, scan coverage is programmed and documented, and the result is a recorded file a customer can review with their own auditor. What should I send for a quote?
A drawing or sketch with overall dimensions, the material and its condition (forging, heat-treat state, surface finish), the specification and acceptance class the part must meet, and the quantity and expected frequency. A photo helps. Use the form for first contact, or email drawings to [email protected].What sizes and weights can you handle?
Parts up to 48 inches in diameter and 2,200 pounds, handled with a 5-ton overhead crane. If your part is close to either limit, call before you ship it.Which materials and product forms do you inspect?
Titanium, nickel alloys, steels, and specialty alloys, as forgings, bar, billet, plate, and rough-machined (sonic-shape) components. What specification do you inspect to?
Yours. Every inspection is performed to the customer drawing, specification, and acceptance criteria, under a written procedure approved by our NDT Level III.What comes back with the part?
A report that stands on its own: the procedure and technique used, the scan plan and coverage, calibration and reference-standard records, the result, and the certified inspector who signed it, plus the C-scan images and raw data file, an indication report with location and amplitude for every recordable indication, and Level III review where the specification requires it.Are you accredited?
Encore is a new lab, and accreditation follows operation. The quality system is being built to be audited from the first part. Ask where we are in the process when you call. Can we start before you open?
Yes. Source approval, quoting, and scheduling can begin now, in parallel with our opening.Where are you, and how do parts get to you?
2795 Old Richburg Rd, Richburg, South Carolina, on I-77 between Charlotte and Columbia. Parts can be shipped or delivered; handling and shipping details come with every quote.
